01. We have a managed services provider and we think we are happy with them, but we don’t really know what the market offers in terms of price and/or service. How could your service add some value to our situation?
The potential is for us to add value by running an RFP for selected vendors in the market to see what service offerings and pricing could be on offer that would benefit your business. However it might also be that an hour or two spent with our consultants could confirm that you are doing just fine and there is no need to go to market. The free initial consultation should help you decide.
02. We started off as a company of two staff with two computers and we are now 40 staff with a lot more computers. One of the staff claimed to know a bit about computers and hooked them all together but we don’t really know what we have, how it works and what risks we have. What do you recommend we do?
I hate to say it, but this sounds like a very scary situation. It is hard to know for sure without exploring your situation but I suspect that you have significant service, security and stability issues. If that is correct then you could well be in a situation where an IT failure through damage such as fire or a virus attack could mean you are unable to operate your business for several days, possibly weeks. Even if that is not the case it is quite likely that you could get productivity improvements simply by upgrading your hardware and networks.
I recommend you schedule your free initial consultation as soon as possible.

03. How much would it cost for Independent IT Consulting to do an IT Audit on our business?
Ahh, the piece of string. The cost depends on the amount of work and the amount of work depends on the size of your organisation, the state of your IT environment, the available documentation, the availability of your staff and a number of other variables. Without a few more details, I would guess at approximately $6k + GST
04. We think we are OK with IT, in that we don’t appear to have any problems, but we just recently discussed the possibility that we might be missing some opportunities to provide a better service to our customers or to improve productivity / profit by using IT. What should we do?
Based on limited information, if I was your business owner I would want to confirm what my IT current state was, what competitors did with technology, what the trends with technology were in my industry and what IT tools and resources were available in the market (and at what price and ROI) that could benefit my business.
You could do this yourself depending on your availability of staff and understanding of the IT industry or you could engage Independent IT Consulting to undertake this for you – while you continue to do what you do best.
